Weight is 985g (ouch!) Canon’s other 50mm option at the time, the 50mm f/1.8, weighed a paltry 190g by comparison, making the 50mm f/1.0L a full 5 times heavier! Even the 50mm f/1.2L (click for my review) that would come much later (2007) weighs an insignificant 545g by comparison. Compact, Lightweight Fixed 50mm Focal Length Lens. Large F/1.8 Aperture for Low-Light Photography and Creative Background Blur. A Stepping Motor (Gear-Type STM) Provides Smooth and Quiet Continuous AF During Video Recording, As Well As When Shooting Photos. Control Ring for Direct Setting Changes. But after I compared with RF50L, canon RF lens defeat leica in sharpness and bokeh. Leica wins in term of size and weight (RF50L 3x heavier than summilux). Sharpness on par with EF 200mm f2. RF50L also one of the easiest prime lens to use, AF accuracy and speed are excelent even on original eos R body. While we found the RF 50mm f/1.2L to deliver near-flawless results in practical shooting situations, it also performed admirably in our lab testing. The new RF mount 50mm delivers great sharpness wide open at f/1.2 and right the way up to f/11, and maintains impressive edge sharpness, too. Fringing isn't something you need to worry about when
The RF 50mm f/1.2L USM is a very fast standard prime lens for Canon's new EOS R full-frame mirrorless camera system. The Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L USM features a bright f/1.2 maximum aperture, a ring-type UltraSonic Motor (USM) AF system more usually found in Canon’s super telephoto lenses which delivers fast, near-silent autofocusing, 10 rounded diaphragm blades for smoother bokeh, 40cm close

In keeping with its predecessors, the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM is a small and lightweight lens, weighing 30g more than the EF 50mm f/1.8 II. Whereas the EF 50mm f/1.8 II has a highly plasticky feel in
RF50mm f/1.8 STM The metal mount is highly durable and provides a luxurious feel. The frontmost lens element protrudes slightly more than on an EF lens, but the rearmost lens element recedes more. EF50mm f/1.8 STM Until the EF50mm f/1.8 II, the mount was plastic. However, this version has a metal mount like its RF mount counterpart.
The Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L USM in Action. I tried the Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L USM at two different Canon Road Show events. Once with the Canon EOS R6 and the second time with the Canon EOS R5. I was equally impressed with the lens on either camera with more than sufficient autofocus speed. Autofocus is silent and precise.
The optical design of the RF 35mm F1.8 Macro is similar to the older EF 35mm F2, but flipped. Whereas the older optic (designed for DSLRs) has a large front element and a small rear element, the RF 35mm F1.8 (designed for mirrorless) has a small front element and a large rear element. Canon’s latest iteration is the best yet, with a slightly nicer build quality, slightly better autofocus performance, and slightly better image quality. The RF 50mm F1.8 instantly becomes the least expensive RF mount lens from Canon, and as such it’s easy simply from a value perspective.
Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM performance. The Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM punches well above its weight, delivering images with impressive image quality across the entire aperture range. More than that, though, it's just a damned fun lens to use. The lack of a 50mm f/1.8 was very, very noticeable on the EOS R system.
Best Canon Pro Lenses • Canon EF 50mm Review by Peter McKinnon This “nifty-fifty” is a good prime lens with an even better price tag. Canon’s newest update makes the 50mm f/1.8 lens better than ever before by moving to the RF format.
In short. Canon Lens FD 50mm 1: 1.8 and Canon Lens FD 50mm 1: 1.4 are Canon's latest manual focus fifty-kopecks before the switch to Canon EF mount. Canon Lens FD 50mm 1: 1.8 has a simplified and lightweight body, only 5 aperture blades, light weight and small size. Optically, as for the old lens, it is quite good. UvXH.
