Maybe break the portal and rebuild it? If the bug happened when it was created maybe creating a brand new one will correct the problem. I just tried that in several places just now. i tried going to a farther away from the original portal incase it might send me to a new spot in the nether but still it doesnt work :^/. r/Minecraft.

Steps for linking portals. 1) Players need to note down their Overworld portal's exact coordinates (X, Y, Z). They can do so by deactivating the portal and then standing on it. Then, players need

This is not a glitch, it is by design. Every time you enter a portal, Minecraft will search for a corresponding portal in the other dimension. It starts this search at an exact point based on the calculation below, and works outwards. If it finds an active portal within about 128 blocks, then it will send you there.
Help. Portal 1: Instant lava death; note coordinates. Portal 2: Instant lava death; note coordinates. This is what I see as I materialize; already dieing. If I attempt to run out of the portal while dieing I see this. Portal 3: I did not build this. it was created by the system after I died in the 2nd portal; note the coordinates.
But if your OW starter area corresponds to a large lava ocean and only viable portal place is a cave in Nether ceiling, thats not nice, but still way better than a small cave UNDER the lava ocean. Taking a better look at whats around: you will need some pistons. One is fine, but faster with 3. The debris collected, we hurry through the Nether, and suddenly hear a most unsettling sound. The Professor suggests I go on ahead alone. Hey, you’re the science genius! I’m just the pretty face. So I continue into the Nether and guess what - there’s nothing to worry about! Why, I even bump into some friendly ghosts:

Sort by: liquid_at. • 6 yr. ago. Since nether and overworld are 1:8 in ration, it is likely that when you go to the nether, your portal finds the other one and sends you out there, but when you go back, your initial portal is too far away to be found. Write down the exact coordinates of your overworld portal. Divide the x and z coordinate by

Y coords do matter, and don't get divided by 8. Take your overworld portal coords and divide the x & z by 8, but keep y the same to get your "ideal" nether coords. The game sends you to the closest portal to that location. Find the difference between your actual coords and your ideal coords,

I want a new portal so I can have a better chance at finding a nether fortress. Therefore I made my new portal at X: 447, Y: 68, Z: 900. This obviously is more than the 128 blocks rule, but it still didn't work. I went through the portal, which sent me to the same nether portal that was created from the original overworld portal I made.
Save this answer. Show activity on this post. From the wiki, the only ways to deactivate a nether portal are explosions or pouring a water bucket directly into the portal. If you don't want to have anything explode, it looks like you will not be able to deactivate it with redstone. One option, if you want to try using TNT without destroying
It's because of the 8:1 block ratio between the Nether and the Overworld. It's really weird though that you enter a portal in the overworld, and then when going back through where you came, come out of a different portal in the overworld. This mod fixes that issue. It keeps track of what portals a player went through in order to ensure correct

Next, place a Pressure Plate in front of the left lowest Portal block (make sure they are on the same Y level!), and lead a line of 4 Redstone from in front of the Pressure Plate to the right, so that the Redstone will be just to the right of the right side of the Nether Portal. Place a Repeater facing back towards the Nether Portal, and place

It’s happened to me ones for my several years of playing minecraft bedrock. 2 yr. ago. After 1.17.2, went into portal to go to nether 0,5,-1000. Glitched, eventually dropped me approx 0,5,-8043 nether. Yikes, no safe way back to spawn. Went back to OW approx 0,62,64264 dropped into water. Glitch occurred between 1.16.210 and 1.17.2 where players would get sent to the nether coordinates the same as the overworld. The same thing occurs when ente x97RW1.
