Hi need help please. My number plate lights on my 2011 mk4.5 mondeo have stopped. I cant see anywhere in the fuse chart that mentions the lights and I have checked all 3 fuse boxes and all are ok. Ive tested for power with a multimeter and its dead in both lamps. Any advice please. Thanks Peter
Sounds like a couple of broken wires, all right. A cheap and cheerful multimeter from the likes of Maplin or Halford's should do the trick. Disconnect the brake light, _turn on the ignition_ to position 2 (i.e. gauges on, not starting the engine) and have someone push the pedal while you measure. They're a straight swap, even between Mk4.0 and Mk4.5 (which is the one you're looking at on eBay there). AFAIK, all the diesel Mondeos should go through the 'dash light test sequence'; that is, in the first ignition switch on position, the dashboard lights all ought to be tested, and anything else is a fault. Then, in the next position the glow plug light should only come on if either:

Check the illumination of other switches, they use the same illumination source, from the light switch. Also double check fuses F46, F67 & F68, they all supply the cluster (IC). See what else works, like wipers, lights etc. They are controlled from a separate module, if most of them work, then at least battery power is getting to some of the car. 0gx2QNI.
